I think we can officially call this week The Fighter Week. While news of this upcoming event may already be out there, we want to help spread the word to The Fighter supporters and fans — the film is unearthing local fever, of that we are certain! It’s great exposure for Micky Ward and his Team Micky Ward Charities, both of which are benefitting from Fighter hype. At the heart of this Wicked Irish/UMass Lowell celebration are the boxing careers and lifetime achievements of Micky and his brother Dickie Eklund. Billed as an “After Party” (a private screening of The Fighter is being held before the celebration), the event itself is not a premiere party for the film. But Wicked Irish organizers are ensuring behind-the-scenes movie clips plus appearances from local cast members and Boston-based celebrities.
Now’s your chance to enjoy some quality time with Micky and Dickie before the Hollywood hubbub begins with the nationwide release of The Fighter on December 17. For more details on the Wicked Irish Thunder event, read coverage on Lowell.com or visit wwwWickedIrish.com. Tickets are on sale at www.TsongasCenter.com.
