Les Vacances de Monsieur Hulot [1953, 114 min]
(Mr. Hulot’s Holiday)
Tuesday, June 16 @ 8PM
119 Chelmsford Street, Lowell
Join our friends at Lowell’s 119 Gallery for another great film installment as part of Kitty Chick’s Flicks. Lowell resident and film aficionado Kitty Chick continues her monthly film series of black & white classics from around the world with a wonderful bit of French cinema featuring comedian Jacques Tati as Monsieur Hulot. Some film notes from Kitty: “Pipe smoking Monsieur Hulot, Jacques Tati´s endearing clown, takes a holiday at a seaside resort where his presence provokes one catastrophe after another. If you’re going to watch Tati, I think you should start with this. It’s one of the funniest movies ever made. Beautifully filmed in black and white with very little dialogue — It´s rather like a silent film.”
Kitty serves up cider, popcorn, sweet treats, and anything else folks want to contribute. Everyone is welcomed to stay after the film for film talk with fellow film enthusiasts!
