Is the truth about yoga OUT THERE? “Enlighten Up” screens TONIGHT at Life Alive in Lowell

ENLIGHTEN UP (2008)
A Skeptic’s Journey Into the World of Yoga

Monday, May 24  |  7:30PM
Life Alive Urban Oasis & Cafe
194 Middle Street, Lowell
Free admission (donations welcome!)

For some, the power of yoga has transformed and healed body, mind, and soul. But Nick Rosen is a bit skeptical — what IS it about yoga practice that draws millions into studios, gyms, and temples around the world? Follow Nick as he travels for 6 months across the globe at the request of his friend and filmmaker Kate Churchill, who herself believes that yoga can transform anyone. Beautifully filmed and brilliantly presented, Enlighten Up draws us in close — Nick is TRULY as real as it gets, spouting humorous insights and absorbing every incredible part of his quest and the people he meets: celebrity yogis, renowned gurus, and what we’d all consider to be ‘yoga freaks.’ If you have ANY experience or interest in yoga or its origins, don’t miss this film!

This special event is brought to  you in partnership by the Lowell Film Collaborative, Life Alive Cafe, and BromYoga in Lowell. Founded by Kripalu-trained yoga instructor Jon Brandi, BromYoga offers weekly yoga classes at The Space at 122 Western Avenue. In addition to the film screening, Jon will lead the audience in gentle yoga and meditation exercises suitable for everyone — yoga mats and special clothing NOT required!

Great film, great big buildings: We’re off to New York City!

First of all, a big Film Collaborative THANK YOU to everyone who came out to our screening of Good Food at Life Alive last night — what a turnout! Thanks goes to all our parters, including the Life Alive staff!

The LFC is taking a quick little trip to the Big Apple to catch come cool stuff at the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) — we’ll be back in action by Monday, March 29. While in NYC, look for LowellFilmGrl to capture all she can via some Tweets! (By the way, we’re taking this guy with us.)

In addition to eating and enjoying the sites, sounds, and smells of the biggest darn city in America, we’ll be checking out MOMA’s Tim Burton exhibit as well as the New Directors/New Films of 2010, which looks JUST amazing.

While we’re gone, keep April 2, 3, and 5 firmly on your calendars for Lowell’s Marx Brothers Revue (click the icon on your right!) in celebration of the upcoming 3rd Annual Lowell Film Festival, just a couple of weeks away. Get excited, folks! Great 1930′s film will be the rage in the Mill City!

See you in a couple of days — enjoy your weekend!
