Greetings Filmies!

The project we’ve all been working on the last several months is finally arrived!

A LOWELL FILM FESTIVAL UPDATE!

If reservation requests for the Lowell Film Festival’s Opening Night Headline Film are any indication, this Festival is gonna be STELLAR!

As of this afternoon, seats for the Lowell Film Festival’s screening of Academy-Award nominated film “The Garden” have SOLD OUT! The Festival committee is still encouraging folks to come on out Friday on stand-by in case any reservations get released. But as of today, no more reservations for Friday will be taken.

The Saturday headline film, “Battle in Seattle,” still has some available seats, but they, too, are going quickly!

I encourage anyone reading this who is interested in taking in the Saturday headline film to visit www.lowellfilms.org and make those reservations!

Film will be a HUGE part of the month of April here in the City of Lowell! And we couldn’t be more pleased!

In addition to the Lowell Film Festival (April 3 – 5), there’ll be several film events hosted by the LFC and otherwise, including the Pollard Library’s monthly indie film screening and Kitty Chick’s flicks. UMass Lowell is getting in on the action, with some great screenings on campus that we’ll keep you posted on.

Roger Ebert LOVES this film, and why shouldn’t he? It’s got food, beauty, sensuality … and that incredible 80′s look filmies can’t pass up. It’s a racy, sexy piece, and the 119 Gallery is THE perfect venue.

And I should of course mention that this great film is being screened in honor of the Lowell Film Festival’s Opening Night After-Party!

Yours truly has gotten the word that reservations are going FAST for the upcoming Lowell Film Festival’s headline films on Friday and Saturday night: “The Garden” and “Battle in Seattle” respectively. And with the Fest less than TWO weeks away, this is a gentle reminder to get in on the action.

“Millies” Director Comes to the Lowell Film Festival

Local filmmaker, screenwriter, and producer Lorre Fritchy will appear as a special guest speaker on Friday, April 3 at the Opening Reception of the 2nd Annual Lowell Film Festival. Fritchy is currently working on her film project Millies, whose subject is inspired by the Bread & Roses strike of the early 1900s.

Filmed entirely on location in the haunting, ruined mills and historic places of Lawrence, Massachusetts, Millies will get a sneak preview during Fritchy’s guest appearance at the Film Festival’s opening gala, held at Lowell’s Revolving Museum.

Academy-Award Nominee Featured at Lowell Film Festival

Focusing on the timely issues of sustainability, fair trade, and the global food market, the 2009 Lowell Film Festival (LFF) is proud to be screening “The Garden,” a 2009 Academy-Award nominee for Best Documentary Feature. While the film has hearty competition at this year’s Oscars (up against “Man on Wire” and Werner Herzog’s “Encounters at the End of the World”), it will stand side-by-side with many other fabulous features at the LFF.
